The 3rd running of the ATRX (Antonine Trail Race 10k) witnessed the biggest field to date, new CRs in the female and male races and fluorescent buffs ahoy! 2015 had 93 finishers, 2016 up to 112 and last night’s edition a whopping 136.
We were proud last night to have our friends from PALS (Play and Learning Support) and the Kilsyth Community Foodbank in attendance. Two worthy causes we would encourage you all to read more about and support if you can.
A hardy and brilliant band of volunteers and race team witnessed a fantastic race with Hilary Robinson smashing her 2016 CR by 14s to regain her title. In the men’s race Garscube’s Stephen Porteous overcame a knee-scraping, blood inducing fall to break John Connolly’s CR by 7 seconds to win in 40:12. The proud record of no runner under 40 mins in this rather undulating 10k continues. For now.
Steve Prentice took 2nd prize for the 2nd year running, with Michael Healy third. For the women, Elsie MacDonald followed up her 2016 ATR podium with second place here, and Rachel Hunt rounded out the top 3 positions.
In our vets categories, Linda Lucey held on to her FV50 title and Chris Upson to the men’s spoils.
The team at Antonine Trail Races would like to thank the Co-op Distribution Centre at Newhouse, Nairns, Jordanhill Garden Supplies and Tailwind for their generous support.
And finally, to our race team and support, thanks, you guys rock.
